Based on your financial aid/FAFSA information, you may be eligible for the ACCESS Financial and Academic Support Program at Appalachian State University.

Please take a minute to read about ACCESS as well as examine the information found on this website.  You will also receive this information as a letter through the mail.

We hope this will help you to gain a strong understanding of the program, its benefits, and what you need to do to help us determine whether you are eligible or not for this incredible opportunity.

You May Be Eligible for the ACCESS Program!

What is the ACCESS Progam?

Appalachian State University’s ACCESS program gives a limited number of students the opportunity to attend Appalachian without assuming debt (no loans!).  This year, we can accept up to 50 first-year students into the program. If you qualify, you will receive an exceptional financial aid award that will make it possible for you to graduate from Appalachian State University without having to borrow money for your education, provided you stay academically and financially eligible for all four years.

Along with the financial assistance, ACCESS students participate in a comprehensive program of academic and personal support. In conjunction with other support areas of the University, ACCESS coordinates and provides an individualized support program for each ACCESS student.  Services offered to all ACCESS students include, but are not limited to, orientation, academic advising through graduation, mentoring, informational workshops, tutoring, study skills assistance, and social events.

What are my next steps?

To determine your eligibility for ACCESS, you have been selected for the Financial Aid verification process. Once the verification process is complete, the ASU Office of Student Financial Aid staff will determine if you are eligible for ACCESS or not.  At that point you will receive another letter through the mail and have access to the "Eligible Students" page on this website. Because this program is open to the first 50 students who qualify, it is very important that you complete the verification process as quickly as possible.
